LABORATORY EQUIPMENT

LABORATORY EQUIPMENT

VASO DE PRECIPITADO= Beaker

Is a simple container for stirring, mixing and heating liquids, Beakers are generally cylindrical in shape, with a flat bottom and a lip for pouring.

TUBOS DE ENSAYE= Test tubes

Is a common piece of laboratory glassware consisting of a finger-like length of glass or clear plastic tubing, open at the top, usually with a rounded U-shaped bottom.

A large test tube designed specifically for boiling liquids is called a boiling tube.

PROBETA=Measuring cylinder

It is used to accurately measure the volume of an object. Water displacement can be used by find out the volume of an object. Graduated cylinders are generally more accurate and precise for this purpose than flasks and beakers.

PIPETA= Pipette

It is used to transport a measured volume of liquid.

PISETA=

MATRAZ DE DESTILACIÓN= Round-bottom flasks

They are used in distillation by chemists as distilling flasks and receiving flasks for the distillate. One-neck round-bottom flasks are used as the distilling flasks in rotary evaporators.

MATRAZ ERLENMEYER= Erlenmeyer flask

Is usually marked on the side (graduated) to indicate the approximate volume of contents, and has a spot of ground glass or enamel where it can be labeled with a pencil.

BALANZA GRANATARIA=

MICROSCOPIO= Microscope

It is an instrument to see objects too small for the naked eye.

REFRIGERANTE= Condenser

Is a piece of laboratory glassware used to cool hot vapors or liquids. A condenser usually consists of a large glass tube containing a smaller glass tube running its entire length, within which the hot fluids pass.

TERMÓMETRO= Thermometer

Is a device that measures temperature or temperature gradient using a variety of different principles. A thermometer has two important elements: the temperature sensor (e.g. the bulb on a mercury thermometer) in which some physical change occurs with temperature, plus some means of converting this physical change into a value.

TAPONES DE CORCHO= Cork Stoppers or bung

Is truncated cylindrical or conical closure to seal a container, such as a bottle, tube or barrel. Unlike a lid which encloses a container from the outside without displacing the inner volume, a bung is partially inserted inside the container to act as a seal.

AGITADORES DE VIDRIO O METÁLICOS=stirring rod

To stir combinations of materials to use in pouring liquids.

GRADILLA= Test tube support

It is used to hold the test tubes.

VIDRIO DE RELOJ= Watch glass

It is a circular, slightly convex-concave piece of glass used in chemistry as a surface to evaporate a liquid, to hold solids while being weighed, or as a cover for a beaker.

CÁPSULA DE PORCELANA= Porcelain dish

It is a container for small amounts of liquid to be evaporated.

MORTERO CON PISTILO DE PORCELANA=Mortar and pestle

Heavy porcelain dish with grinder to grind chemicals to a powder.

TELA DE ALAMBRE CON ASBESTO= wire gauze square ceramic center

SOPORTE UNIVERSAL= universal holder

ANILLO DE HIERRO= iron ring

Iron ring with screw fastener several sizes, to fastén to the ring stand as a support for apparatus.

NUEZ DE SUJECIÓN=buret clamp

Metal clamp to hold apparatus may be fastened to the ring stand.

MECHERO BUNSEN=Bunsen burner

Named after Robert Bunsen, is a common piece of laboratory equipment that produces a single open gas flame, which is used for heating, sterilization, and combustion.
